There has been a dramatic rise in news attention to medicinal cannabis in 2013, with reports on CNN, ABC, CBS, and local publications about high-cannabidiol cannabis oil effectively controlling the symptoms of rare epileptic conditions like Dravet syndrome, Doose syndrome, infantile spasms, cortical dysplasia, and more. These diseases can cause seizures in the hundreds or thousands every week, and they also have a variety of developmental consequences. The challenges for families with children who suffer from these conditions are immense. Traditional pharmaceuticals can be ineffective due to Dravet syndrome and other related disorders. They often make the problem worse. Families are turning to high-CBD cannabis oil as a last resort. It has shown remarkable efficacy and is providing hope for many families.
High-CBD cannabis oil has a non-psychoactive component that is apparently more effective than high-THC cannabis oil. Cannabidiol (another cannabinoid from cannabis) is another. This cannabinoid, along with the psychoactive THC, has received significant research that suggests neuroprotective, anticancer, anti-ischemic and antispasmodic, as well as antipsychotic and antibacterial properties. Furthermore, cannabis oil is a type of extract from cannabis. The oil contains high levels of concentrated cannabinoids, which can be taken orally.
The research suggests that CBD has panacea-like properties, and in practice, this is proving to be the case. Sanjay Gupta aired a CNN documentary in August 2013 about Charlotte Figi. Charlotte was a Dravet disorder patient. She suffered from 300 grand mal seizures each week. These seizures were so severe that no medication or diet changes could be made to lower them. Charlotte’s seizures stopped when Charlotte’s parents first discovered high-CBD cannabis. She now has less than three minor seizures a month. This is a remarkable case, and it’s not an isolated one. Dr. Margaret Gedde of Colorado Springs is monitoring 11 new clients of the Stanely Brothers, who provide Charlotte’s high CBD medicine. Nine of them have experienced seizures that were reduced by 90-100%, which is again a miracle.
CBD is effective against complex epileptic disorders. No other pharmaceuticals, even those with the best research, have been able to induce any healing. High-CBD cannabis oils can be used to reduce epileptic symptoms.
It is not surprising that these results have been documented for many years. Similar to how cannabinoids have been shown to be therapeutically effective against epilepsy there are also studies that suggest they can control cancers. These results have been translated into practice for epilepsy as well as other conditions. For years, people have been successfully eliminating cancers and treating diseases such as diabetes, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia and heart disease. This is serious and needs to be addressed more.
